Those were carefully cross-stitched and locked inside with a padlock and a strong chain. Some of them have humanoid form... one does not have a form at all, and at least one furry creature sneaked into the party too. 

Here is the embellishment pack for the SAL, made in collaboration with other stich lovers (it includes book corners, chain, padlock and skull).

SUGGESTED FABRICS and FLOSS:

Aida 18 count by Zweigart - for the book cover. Any color will fit, since it will be fully cross stitched. 
Vintage Country Mocha linen 32 count by Zweigart - for the pages. I recommend using this linen since it is perfectly coloured and resembles old paper. 

40 DMC colors and 3 Kreinik #4 braid colors used. 

Comes with paper outline teaching diagram

The patterns in this project are perfect for experienced and adventurous stitchers. They mostly include full cross stitch and a back stitch, however there are some fractional stitches and french knots used.
